HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Hanscom Fitness and Sports Center officials will soon offer expanded physical training offerings at the Fitness Bubble here.

The BeaverFit Performance Locker provides up to 50 people the opportunity to train together on tactical fitness equipment.

“We are excited to introduce the BeaverFit Performance Locker for base personnel to improve their overall strength and endurance,” said Jerry Turnbow, Hanscom’s Fitness and Sports Center director. “The locker is furnished with equipment to create world class fitness training.”

The locker contains gear such as squat racks, pull-up stations, a 12-foot climbing rope, medicine balls, kettle bells and free weights.

The equipment is located in the Fitness Bubble behind the Fitness and Sports Center.

“The facility has recently undergone improvements such as replacing interior and exterior fabric linings and updated the lighting,” said 1st Lt. Leah Vincuilla, 66th Force Support Squadron Force Sustainment Flight commander.

When the facility first opened in 1991, it was a two-court indoor tennis facility.

“While the Fitness Bubble will continue to offer tennis on one side of the facility, the remaining space will provide units the chance to use the new state-of-the art equipment,” said Turnbow.

To reserve the BeaverFit Performance Locker beginning next month, officials created a secure site for personnel to make reservations. Visit https://org2.eis.af.mil/sites/21911/FSS/SitePages/Fitness%20Center.aspx to learn more.

The Fitness and Sports Center is open to all Department of Defense employees and retirees, active duty service members from all military branches, military retirees and civilian contractors. The facility is also open to dependents.

“For those interested in other fitness activities, we also offer an indoor running track, two gymnasiums, three aerobic rooms, a rock climbing wall, family and child workout space, group fitness classes and much more,” said Turnbow.

Officials also expanded 24/7 access to the Fitness Center for all eligible users. All personnel interested in using 24/7 access have until March 1 to review and sign a new Statement of Understanding, including those already registered and using the facility.
