HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- Lt. Col. Richard Baysinger took command of Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Detachment 7 here during a change of command ceremony at the Minuteman Commons June 26.

Col. Brady Hauboldt, AFLCMC vice commander, presided over the ceremony, in which Lt. Col. Shana Figueroa relinquished command.

“She has been a superb leader of our Airmen and our mission here at Hanscom,” said Hauboldt, speaking about the outgoing commander. “You have grown into the job and have faced a lot of adversity and challenges, but executed that mission very well.”

Figueroa will move to an assignment at Headquarters Air Force Space Command at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado.

“I am beyond honored to have had this opportunity to make the Air Force a better place, to help people who could not help themselves and to honor the sacrifices of people who had the strength to be brave,” Figueroa said.

After thanking Figueroa for her leadership to the detachment, Hauboldt discussed the opportunity awaiting Baysinger.

“It’s an incredibly exciting time for you and your family,” he said. “I know you are ready with energy and enthusiasm.”

As commander of one of AFLCMC’s six detachments, Baysinger will have administrative authority of more than 450 military personnel within the center’s two Hanscom-based directorates.

He is responsible for advising Hanscom’s program executive officers on military personnel management and providing administrative control over members, including overseeing deployments, training, fitness, medical evaluations and discipline.

Baysinger’s career has spanned a wide range of assignments and locations. He most recently served as a program manager on the Family of Advanced Beyond Line-of-Sight Terminals, or FAB-T, at Hanscom AFB.

“Today is easily one of the most memorable days of my career,” Baysinger said. “I am honored and humbled to be taking on what I know will be one of the most challenging but rewarding positons in my military career.”
