HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – While there is no specific threat at this time, base officials urge members of the base community to take precautionary steps to limit possible exposure to the novel coronavirus, named COVID-19 by the World Health Organization, through preventative measures.
While there have been no cases of the coronavirus at or around Hanscom AFB, the 66th Medical Squadron offers these tips:
- Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer when soap and water is not available
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands
- Do not share food or beverages
- Cover your mouth with your blouse or elbow while coughing and sneezing
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
- Stay home if you are feeling sick/consider self-isolation
If you are experiencing sickness or believe you may have been exposed, call the appointment line at 781-225-6789 and refrain from getting others sick by staying home and self-isolating. Supervisors have the authority to allow members to stay home on quarters for up to 24 hours without a medical visit. If you need immediate care, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
