HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Operation Night Hoops will take place Friday nights this month for members of the 66th Security Forces Squadron and other volunteers to play basketball here with base teens.

The event is free and open to boys and girls ages 13 to 18 at the Youth Center.

“Operation Night Hoops creates an avenue for the youth to experience who we are and learn that we’re here to support the Hanscom community,” said Senior Airman Jamere Dotson, this year’s Operation Night Hoops organizer.

Youth registration takes place every Friday night from 7 to 8 p.m. followed by presentations from base agencies. Organized pick-up basketball games begin at 9 p.m.

“The program also offers base youth a safe place to play basketball,” Dotson said.

As part of the annual event, teens first hear from base agencies on applicable topics, such as alcohol and drug prevention and more.

Security forces personnel have partnered with the Youth Center to run the annual after hours outreach program since 2003.
