Lexington, Mass. – The chief of Protocol at Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts, recently received a key award during the annual AFCEA International Conference held in San Diego.

Phil Blanchard, who is also a major in the Massachusetts Army National Guard, received the Distinguished Young AFCEAN Award for his outstanding support to AFCEA’s Lexington-Concord Chapter.

The chapter cited him specifically for his work in support of a Hanscom career day and the chapter’s signature New Horizons event.

AFCEA officials recognized his leadership during Hanscom Air Force Base’s Career Day, where he personally worked with the Massachusetts National Guard, University of Massachusetts-Lowell ROTC students and Hanscom program offices to produce a successful STEM-centric event.

As chief of Protocol, Blanchard interacted with senior government leaders, including the secretary of the Air Force, vice chief of staff of the Air Force and secretary of the Air Force for acquisition during AFCEA events held.

“Phil Blanchard has done it all; he’s a rising star in our Chapter,” said Lexington-Concord Chapter President Gretchen Stewart.
