HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Commercial door-to-door deliveries for all routine Government Purchase Card procured items will begin here Oct. 1.
Items purchased through GPC will be delivered by approved commercial small-package transportation service providers directly to the designated consignee’s building. This local change applies only to GPC purchased items.
Organizations, facility and security managers must establish procedures for deliveries, and GPC holders are responsible to track packages from vendors, said Brenda Cavallaro, GPC program coordinator.
“Card holders must ensure they are updating their points of contact, military or civilian, who will receive the shipments, whether they’re purchasing through GSA Advantage or other vendors,” said Cavallaro.
The transportation service providers will not leave unsigned packages unattended at a building.
“The commercial drivers will make three attempts to deliver the packages before returning them to the vendor,” said Tim Veen, 66th Logistic Readiness Squadron Deployment and Distribution Flight chief.
Veen said that while the 66 LRS will no longer deliver GPC purchases, they will continue to support official traffic management and outbound shipments.
“This will allow us to focus on our mission-critical shipments and provide a better service experience for our customers,” he said. “We appreciate the community’s cooperation.”
