HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Officials from the 66th Security Forces Squadron here announced the Ruiz Gate (formerly Hartwell Gate) will open for expanded hours beginning March 1.

The gate will open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for both inbound and outbound traffic.

The Sartain Gate will remain open 24 hours to provide Visitor Control Center services and facilitate the commercial vehicle search area.

Hanscom AFB has recently implemented changes to installation access procedures. Personnel entering the base should be prepared for the following procedures:

1. Have authorized identification card or installation access pass in hand with photo facing the entry controller upon arrival.

2. Lower driver side/driver rear windows and lower or remove anything obscuring the face (i.e. face mask/covering, helmet, hat, sunglasses) for positive facial recognition and identification.

3. If asked, be prepared to hand identification card to the entry controller.

4. All passengers 18 and older must produce an authorized identification card or pass.

As a reminder, if you are in need of an installation pass, the Visitor Control Center hours are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. If a pass is required after the posted hours, personnel at the Sartain Gate are available 24 hours to assist. We recognize the inconvenience caused by traffic delays and asks that you plan accordingly. We will continue to balance installation security with efficient procedures and appreciate everyone’s cooperation and support.

Officials confirmed that the extended hours are not specifically intended to accommodate more employees returning to the installation on a regular basis. Those who have been successfully teleworking should continue to do so and should only return to work on the installation when they are formally notified by a supervisor.
