HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- Members of the Hanscom community have two ways to report suspicious or illegal activities seen at or around the installation 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The programs, known as Eagle Eyes and Crime Stop, allow base personnel to report tips or crimes.

“Crime Stop provides an anonymous means of reporting a crime on the installation directly to the 66th Security Forces Squadron,” said Tech. Sgt. Raymond Rocheleau, 66 SFS flight chief. “Crimes can include acts of vandalism, domestic violence, threatening acts or behaviors, possession of weapons or the use or sale of illegal drugs.”

Historically, Hanscom has enjoyed a low crime rate average, which SFS officials attribute to constant vigilance and support from the entire community.

To anonymously report a crime through Crime Stop, call 781-225-6920 or 781-225-3565.

The Eagle Eyes program enlists the eyes and ears of all members of the Hanscom community. The program, part of an Air Force anti-terrorism effort, allows personnel to report a crime by calling the Eagle Eyes hotline at 781-225-3561 or 781-225-3937. If there is an emergency, dial 911.

“All personnel on Hanscom Air Force Base are sensors,” said Rocheleau. “We want to make sure that anybody who sees anything suspicious calls in to Eagle Eyes.”

According to law enforcement officials, suspicious behaviors to be mindful of include individuals recording or monitoring activities on or near the installation or people looking through binoculars and taking notes. Among the broad range of suspicious behaviors tipsters can report include attempts to gain information about military operations, capabilities, or people, as well as brazen tests of security.

If personnel see something they think law enforcement officials should immediately be aware of, Rocheleau recommends they contact SFS directly at 781-225-5000 or call 911.
