Support services provide facility updates

HANSCOMA IR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- While base officials continue the work to restore power to facilities here, many organizations in the 66th Air Base Group have resumed operations.

No timetable has been given when power will be fully restored.

“I am grateful for the partnerships with the Federal Aviation Administration, Massachusetts National Guard and others for sharing people and resources during this outage,” said Col. Taona Enriquez, installation commander. “Their support has enabled us to open facilities and provide services to our privatized housing residents and mission partners.”

While some facilities remain without power, other facilities have opened.

The 66th Force Support Squadron now has the following facilities open to customers:

Airman Leadership School
Child Development Center
Education Center
Hanscom Conference Center as a NIPR Café for members of the workforce
Hanscom Lanes
Information and Tickets and Tours
Information Learning Center
Military and Family Readiness Center
Military Personnel Flight
Minuteman Commons and the Tavern
Official Mail Center open for mail pickup only Monday through Friday from noon to 3 p.m.
Outdoor Recreation
School Age Program
Youth Center

The following FSS facilities are not open at this time: Aero Club, Auto Skills Center, Fitness and Sports Center, car wash, indoor tennis bubble and the swimming pool.

“We continue to open our Youth Center to service you,” said Chief Master Sgt. Alan Weary, installation command chief, during a Facebook Live update to the community. “The JA [Legal Office] assisted 18 members of the community over the weekend with filing claims on loss of food items or other essential items.”

According to the Legal Office, personnel will continue to be available to assist residents with filing claims through their insurance carriers at the Legal Office in building 1305. For filing claim timelines, contact the Legal Office at 781-225-1410.

66th Medical Squadron officials say many clinics remain open for virtual-only appointments. Radiology, TRICARE Operations and Medical Records remain closed at this time. The Pharmacy is offering prescriptions for only those submitted prior to Thursday, Sept. 22.  

The MDS appointment line is available at 781-225-6789 to schedule appointments.

Health Promotions and Civilian Health Promotion Services in building 1540 is open for in-person programs and services.

The Commissary remains open for non-perishable and select perishable purchases. Commissary officials expect to have a full supply of perishables on Wednesday, Sept. 28.

The Main Exchange, Express Mart, including gas, Dunkin Donuts, Subway and other facilities in the Exchange Mall remain closed at this time.
