HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – 66th Air Base Group organizations will host Halloween-themed events and activities this month to connect the Team Hanscom community.

The 66th Security Forces Squadron will host a Trunk-or-Treat event Oct. 26 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the squadron’s parking lot and “Pumpkin Patrol” Oct. 31.

Pumpkin Patrol is an SFS initiative to ensure the safety and security of those enjoying Halloween on the base.

“The 66th Security Forces Squadron wants to make sure Hanscom’s youth have a safe environment when out trick-or-treating, especially after dark,” said Senior Airman Kendra Balay, 66 SFS and organizer of this year’s Pumpkin Patrol event.

Base officials announced trick-or-treating hours this year will be 5 to 8 p.m., Oct. 31.

SFS personnel, along with Pumpkin Patrol volunteers, will walk through Housing during those hours while wearing reflective vests to be easily recognizable. Military volunteers are asked to wear their uniform.

As always, members of the Hanscom community are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to Pumpkin Patrol participants, the Law Enforcement Desk at 781-225-5000, or the Crime Stop Hotline at 781-225-6920.

Trunk-or-Treat is a community-based offering that includes candy and pumpkin decorating.

“Families are encouraged to attend this fun event and decorate their cars for Halloween,” said Staff Sgt. Jennifer Colone, 66 SFS and event organizer. “The best decorated car will win a $100 gift card to a local restaurant.”

In addition, Hanscom’s 66th Force Support Squadron will host Halloween Harvest Oct. 29 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Outdoor Recreation. This event will include a bounce house, candy, crafts and games.
