According to 66th Force Support Squadron officials, the Hanscom indoor swimming pool will close for repairs beginning Monday, Aug. 7. The pool is expected to reopen in spring of 2024.

“We understand this will be an inconvenience for swimmers,” said Paul Hartigan, Community Support flight chief. “However, we hope the repairs will greatly improve overall customer satisfaction.”

The project includes the replacement of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning/dehumidification system, and the pool liner and gutters. The slide will also be removed and there will be updates made to the filtration room.

Following the renovations, pool staff anticipate the new HVAC system will enable dry, clean air with proper climate control, while the new pool liner and gutter system will eliminate water leaks.

Officials from 66 FSS will provide updates periodically as the project moves forward.

For the last week the pool is open prior to the repairs, July 31 to Aug. 5, all entrance fees to the pool will be waived.

“We’re planning to set up all of our inflatables, if the weather permits it, on Tuesday, Aug. 1, instead of the usual Wednesday, so stop by between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a great time!” said Hartigan.

Standard hours of operation for the pool will be in effect for the rest of that week; Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 4:45 p.m.
