HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – 66th Force Support Squadron officials will host an Oktoberfest event for the base community here Oct. 13 beginning at 4 p.m. at the Minuteman Commons.

The German-themed celebration will include entertainment for all ages, as well as customary food and beverages.

“Oktoberfest is one of our big four base events for FSS this year,” said Andrew Lane, 66 FSS Community Programs specialist and event coordinator. “This event is a fantastic way to bring our community together through fun and engaging activities.”

Families and individuals of all ages can expect a variety of activities, including inflatable bounce castles, entertainment, corn hole and coasters tournaments, crafts, and more.

“For the younger crowd, there will be outdoor activities such as pumpkin painting, pretzel necklace making, and an inflatable ax throwing attraction,” said Lane. “Indoors, families can enjoy a movie screening, perfect for those who want to sit back and relax.”

German bratwurst with rolls, soft Bavarian pretzels and other food will be available.

“We’ll also have a craft beer truck with a variety of Oktoberfest and German beers,” said Alysha Brandy, 66 FSS Community Programs manager and event coordinator. “There will also be collectible glass beer steins available for purchase.”

Organizers emphasized the importance of responsible drinking and arranging for designated drivers if needed.

Lane encourages attendees to wear authentic German Bavarian attire, as there will be a costume and stein holding contests.

The event will be held rain or shine.
