HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The Department of the Air Force announces the availability of a draft Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for implementing a master lease between the DAF and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The draft EA, prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, Council on Environmental Quality regulations, and Department of the Air Force  regulations implementing NEPA, evaluates the potential environmental impacts associated with establishing and implementing a master lease between the DAF and MIT, as well as a separate conveyance via quitclaim deed of facility and improvement ownership.

Based on this analysis, the Department of the Air Force has prepared a proposed FONSI. The DAF seeks public comments on the draft EA and draft FONSI and will consider all input received before reaching a final decision.

Copies of the draft EA and draft FONSI are available for download.

Hanscom Air Force Base 66th Civil Engineering Division officials recommend individuals without internet access visit a local library or town hall for assistance in downloading the documents. Requests for hard copies will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Public comments on the draft EA and draft FONSI will be accepted through Dec. 23, 2023, and should be emailed to james.maravelias.1@us.af.mil or mailed to the following address: Jim Maravelias, 66 ABG/CEIE, 120 Grenier Street, Hanscom AFB, MA 01731-1910.
