HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- A Digital Directorate cost analyst here was honored during an AFCEA International Conference in San Diego, last month.

Lynn Demirbas, a member of the Airborne Warning and Control System and Wedgetail Division, received AFCEA’s Distinguished Young Professional Award in recognition of her contributions to the organization’s Lexington-Concord Chapter.

Demirbas contributed to numerous chapter events during her first year as a Young AFCEAN, including a Massachusetts MathCounts Competition, where she reviewed submissions from more than 40 schools to help select individual and team winners.

According to AFCEA officials, she also received this recognition for her role in a “Run for STEM 5K” event. Specifically, she contacted sponsors, promoted participation from local ROTC detachments, and assisted with set up on race day.

Additionally, Demirbas served as a mentor for a summer college intern, where for 10 weeks she personally helped him gain skills needed for successful future leadership.

“Lynn Demirbas’ contributions to our chapter have been no less than extraordinary,” said Erin Donlan-Schubmehl, Lexington-Concord Chapter president.
