HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The Patriot Golf Course will open March 29 for the 2024 season.

Operated by the 66th Force Support Squadron, the nine-hole regulation course is located on the grounds of the Bedford Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Bedford, Massachusetts.

“The Patriot Golf Course provides a wonderful outdoor recreational activity that challenges all levels of golfers from beginner to advanced,” said Jay Carey, 66th Force Support Squadron course manager, and a Professional Golf Association golf pro.

The course is located just 4 miles from Hanscom AFB and offers various programs and services at discounted rates.

The 2024 season will feature various programs such as Golf 4 Kids, offering instruction for children ages 8 to 13, and Link Up 2 Golf, designed to introduce or reintroduce individuals to the game.

While the course is open to the general public, restrictions do apply.

“Military and authorized Department of Defense patrons have priority use during peak play times,” said Paul Hartigan, Community Support flight chief.

Tee time reservations are accepted up to seven days in advance for active duty military, six days in advance for annual members, and five days in advance for other patrons.

Annual greens fees for the 2024 season are available for purchase at Outdoor Recreation or at the Pro Shop at the Patriot Golf Course. This year’s fees are listed at https://hanscomfss.com/golf/. Visitors must show valid military ID as proof of rank and status. Retirees’ membership dues based on rank last held.

Officials are making investments to enhance the golf course experience for users, according Hartigan.

This spring, officials will offer Mother’s Day specials and a “Wine 9 Dine” tournament May 24.

The course also has a 275-yard driving range, PGA teaching pro, and tournaments. In addition, personnel can rent a pavilion for special functions.

According to Carey, the Hanscom AFB course has been voted as “Best U.S. Military Small Golf Course” in the United States multiple times.
