HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The 66th Force Support Squadron will host the 3rd annual HansCOMICON Comic and Game Expo at the Minuteman Commons April 26 and 27.
The two-day event is open to all with access to the installation.
"We're building on the success of previous years with even more activities and a broader engagement through Air Force Gaming,” said Andrew Lane, event organizer. “We’re excited to see the community come together and celebrate the spirit of HansCOMICON."
The event will take place April 26 from noon to 9 p.m. and Saturday, April 27 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
More than 15 vendors offering collectible cards, comics, apparel, 3D prints, and more will be in the main ballroom of the Commons. According to organizers, diverse panel discussions and activities are also planned, ensuring there's something for everyone.
In addition, HansCOMICON will feature a free movie showing, video games, and complimentary pizza during lunchtime.
“Attendees can also step back in time with a retro-inspired ‘80s arcade, featuring arcade cabinets, classic pinball machines, and vintage gaming consoles,” said Lane.
Other additions this year include a chess tournament hosted by the Hanscom Chess Club on Saturday. The Tabletop Knights Club will host board game tournaments alongside an open-play Board Game Testing Lab.
Air Force Gaming will offer an array of main-stage video game tournaments, including popular titles like Rocket League, Call of Duty MW3, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Overwatch 2.
Hollywood-based author Joshua Sky will provide an in-person question and answer session about his experiences in writing for Hollywood and comics.
“The USO will enhance the outdoor experience with a variety of games and activities, creating a vibrant space for attendees to enjoy,” said Lane.
Organizers are seeking volunteer support to assist with various aspects of this year’s event, including setup and teardown, hosting activities, and more, to ensure a successful event.
