HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Department of the Air Force civilian employees here have access to wellness programs through the Civilian Health Promotion Services, or CHPS, in building 1609.

Stephanie Archambault, health promotion coordinator for CHPS, shares free resources to improve and maintain health and wellness for all DAF employees on base.

“Our goal is to connect the base community with essential health screenings and wellness education,” Archambault said. “We provide cholesterol, blood glucose, and other screenings that are crucial for early detection of potential health issues.”

Although their main facilities are in building 1609, CHPS also offers the flexibility of mobile setups where Archambault and her team travel to various locations across the installation, enhancing accessibility to programs and screenings.

DAF civilian employees, including Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve, and Army civilians assigned to AF-led installations, are eligible for Hanscom AFB CHPS services.

CHPS also offers tools such as the “Motivation Alliance!” app, which syncs with wearable devices to track health data, and a USAFWellness.com website that offers a wealth of wellness resources. These tools ensure individuals have continuous access to health information and support.

Archambault is also committed to engaging the community through interactive challenges and educational classes.

“We are currently running a step challenge through May 10 to encourage daily physical activity, with several tiers of prizes to motivate participation,” she said.

These challenges are part of CHPS’s approach to making health and wellness both fun and rewarding.

Archambault plans to expand in-person classes, currently held bi-weekly at the base gym, and continue the robust schedule of virtual sessions available to all personnel.

“It’s about creating opportunities for our employees to thrive in all aspects of their lives,” she said.
