Smallpox immunization clinic hours have changed Published June 27, 2012 66th Medical Squadron HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- For patient safety, the 66th Medical Squadron has developed a smallpox clinic for deployers and those PCSing to areas that require the smallpox vaccine. In order to keep those who do not need the vaccine protected, such as children, a separate clinic time for smallpox vaccination is now available. Non-smallpox walk-in vaccinations will not be allowed during this time. The following is the immunization clinic's new hours, including the new smallpox clinic: Monday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. The smallpox clinic is from 2:30 to 4 p.m. with a show time of 2:30 p.m. Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m. In addition, the clinic closes the first Friday of every month at 11 a.m. for readiness training. Finally, there are other vaccines with special considerations. These include yellow fever, shingles and tuberculosis skin testing. Yellow fever has a wait list. It is given by appointment when there are three or more individuals on the list and it will need to be administered 10 days prior to the date of travel. The shingles vaccine has a wait list and is on back order until further notice. The clinic will call patients as it is received. Those individuals under the age of 60 will need to bring in a prescription for the shingles vaccine when it is available. Tuberculosis skin testing (PPD or TB test) cannot be administered on Thursday, in conjunction with holidays or down days or after 11 a.m. on the first Wednesday of the month. These stipulations are required since the patient has to return within 48 to 72 hours after placement in order to properly read the results.
