In concert with Hanscom being named one of the Boston Globe's top 100 Places to Work, Electronic Systems Center launched a new web site Nov. 9 to attract individuals seeking employment with the center.

The website, www.afesccareers.com, features information on career opportunities with ESC, as well as details on the mission and the Hanscom workplace. The Globe recognized Hanscom in its "Globe 100: The Top Places to Work" section of the Nov. 9 Boston Sunday Globe, highlighting the state's best work locations. Hanscom was judged against other work places based on a survey completed by a random selection of about 700 military members and government civilians from the base. ESC ran a half-page help wanted advertisement in the section, directing interested individuals to the new web site.

"So far the response to the website has been significant," said Sheila Brennan, ESC Director of Personnel. "On the strength of the original appearance in the Boston Globe's Top 100 issue, we continue to draw numerous visitors interested in our career opportunities."

"Launching this web site is an important step in our ongoing strategic hiring initiative," Ms. Brennan said. "The site was developed by TMP Worldwide Advertising & Communications, the world's largest independent recruitment advertising agency, under an Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition contract. They are assisting us in our strategic hiring initiative by developing a "branding" campaign for ESC, and the web site is the beginning of that effort."

The recognition from the Boston Globe couldn't have come at a better time, she said, because it coincided with the web site's debut, and there are a number of civilian job vacancies at Hanscom and other ESC locations across the country that her organization is helping to fill.

Visitors to the web site will find information on careers in contract management, systems engineering, financial management, program management and more. Links to each career specialty take the reader to vacancy announcements on USAJOBS, the official employment web site of the Federal government, where they can learn about duties, necessary qualifications, benefits and how to apply. Prior to being linked to the USAJOBS web site, applicants are offered the opportunity to provide their name and e-mail address to ESC/DP so ESC's personnel specialists can remain in touch with the individual through the application process.

"Considering the economy and the number of people looking for good jobs where they can make a real difference on our nation's defense while earning excellent benefits in a great work environment, we are hopeful that our new web site and branding effort will attract qualified applicants ready to join the ESC team," said Ms. Brennan.
