Hanscom personnel are heeding Secretary of the Air Force Michael W. Wynne's call for continued learning.

"We must take the Air Force's basic educational foundation to the next level and be relentless in our continued pursuit to become knowledge-enabled Airmen," Secretary Wynne said in his April 13, 2006 Letter to Airmen.

Many members of the Hanscom community are contributing to Air Force excellence by earning college degrees while also achieving success in their careers.

Hanscom's enlisted servicemembers can earn associate degrees from the Community College of the Air Force through Hanscom's Education and Training Center, and have been doing so in record numbers.

The Education and Training Center facilitated the award of associate degrees to 98 enlisted servicemembers, which represents 12.34 percent of Hanscom's enlisted population, in 2006, said Carrie Woolpert, Education and Training Center deputy director. This number is far above the Major Command average of 5.8 percent, she said.

For this contribution to the U.S. Air Force's educational mission, the Education and Training Center team here was recently recognized by Col. Thomas D. Klincar, Community College of the Air Force commandant. On behalf of Colonel Klincar, Col. Tom Schluckebier, 66th Air Base Wing commander, presented the Education and Training Center's team with a congratulatory letter and Certificate of Recognition for their "outstanding performance and commitment to educational excellence."

"Twelve percent is a huge achievement. Thanks for caring for our Airmen and making education a priority," Colonel Klincar said in the letter.

The Hanscom Education and Training Center offers opportunities for all military and civilian Airmen to continue their educational pursuits.

"Make education a priority throughout your career and doors will continue to open," Secretary Wynne's Letter to Airmen said. "Your achievements will become a part of your record of success for all evaluations."
