HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Civil engineering officials here have announced that Bestic Drive near building 1325 will close to all traffic beginning Sept. 3 and remain closed through April 2025.

The closure is necessary to facilitate utility work for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lincoln Laboratory Compound Semi-Conductor Laboratory - Microelectronics Integration Facility.

"We understand that this road closure may cause some inconvenience, but it is essential to ensure the timely and safe completion of this vital construction project," said Nathaniel Dwyre, 66th Civil Engineering Division engineer. "We appreciate Team Hanscom’s patience and cooperation during this time."

Officials will post detour signs around the area and redirect traffic away from the section being closed.

The Compound Semi-Conductor Laboratory - Microelectronics Integration Facility is a military construction project aimed at providing a new, 161,000 square-foot compound semiconductor laboratory and microsystem integration facility for the Advanced Microelectronics Mission to continue research.

The new facility is expected to significantly enhance the base's role in supporting national defense initiatives.
