HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Officials from the town of Bedford invite the Team Hanscom community and their families to attend events on Saturday, Sept. 21, for the 295th anniversary of the town’s incorporation.
The annual event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Town Hall complex. Parking is available behind the library, the high school, and in the St. Michael’s Church parking lot at 90 Concord Road.
“The Bedford Recreation Department is thrilled to invite everyone to join us for Bedford Day, an annual tradition that brings our community together for a day of fun and celebration,” said Nikki Taylor, assistant director, Bedford Recreation Department.
Bedford Day includes a parade beginning at 10:30 a.m. The parade route begins at the intersection of The Great Road and Loomis Street, proceeds north on The Great Road, and turns left onto Mudge Way, where it ends.
Parade participants include Team Hanscom representatives Col. Jorge Jimenez, Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., installation commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Walter Lall, senior enlisted leader for the Presidential & Executive Airpower Directorate, who will march with Bedford town officials and local organizations.
There will also be a 5K race, a fair with more than 150 booths, and a fireworks display at 7:30 p.m. The main viewing area for the display will be located between Bedford High School and the town center.
Bedford Day events are held rain or shine. In the case of severe weather, the events will be canceled; there is no rain date.
“Bedford Day is a cherished opportunity to connect with friends and neighbors, enjoy booths from local businesses and groups, and celebrate the spirit of Bedford,” said Taylor. “We look forward to seeing the entire Bedford and Hanscom Air Force Base community at the event.”
