HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The Hanscom community has a new healthy dining option following the recent opening of a new restaurant.

Energy Plus Nutrition offers breakfast and lunch Monday through Thursday.

“They offer a very healthy approach, lifestyle food concept," said Michelle Aucoin, AAFES services business manager. “We are very excited to have a new dining option here at Hanscom.”

An official grand opening is planned for January.

“At first we started off with protein shakes, energy drinks and tea,” said Cristian Lopez, store manager. “Since then, we have expanded our menu to include breakfast and lunch, such as crepes, acai bowls and coffee.”

The restaurant operates in the Main Exchange.

“We have been open for about a month now and we’ve been surprised how busy it has been,” Lopez added. “People are happy there is something different offered.”

The new AAFES concessionaire joins Dunkin Donuts, Subway, and Sunny’s Happy Bowl located at the Hanscom Main Exchange food court.

In addition, there are three new micro markets on base and one more coming soon.

“Micro markets are a self-service market that has fresh food, chips, snacks, and drinks for purchase,” said  Aucoin. “You grab something off the shelf, go to the kiosk, pay for it and that's it.”
