HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – A 66th Medical Squadron physician assistant has been flexing his skills in the kitchen to show his appreciation to his team.

Maj. Jason Howell strives to care for the Airmen in his flight with the same dedication he provides to his patients, nourishing both their bodies and souls through his cooking.

“Anyone can buy donuts or cookies,” Howell said. “I show my appreciation to my team by cooking and sharing food with them. We can't give everyone an award for their hard work, but everyone likes to eat."

Howell prepares meals for his team two to three times a month, sometimes more often.

“He doesn’t want to be recognized for this, but he is making a big impact,” said Tech. Sgt. Sung Min Son, 66 MDS Flight Operational Medical Clinic non-commissioned officer in charge. “His dedication to the flight is unmatched and he influences everyone around him.”

Cheesesteaks and fettuccini Alfredo are favorite dishes in the clinic.

“I love the fried rice,” Son said. “It takes about three days to prepare, and he sends pictures of the process. He made about thirty pounds last time, enough to share with the whole squadron.”

Howell emphasized that his efforts are for the Airmen, not the accolades.

“I hope the team realizes how much I value them, and it increases their morale,” Howell said. “That’s why I do it.”
