Base senior leaders met with Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll and state officials during a visit here Dec. 9.

Driscoll was joined by a representative from the office of U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton and Mass. Military Asset and Security Strategy Task Force officials to discuss opportunities to collaborate.

“We can really leverage what we are doing here to benefit the military and the community,” said Driscoll. “I see a real opportunity for partnerships.”

Program executive officers briefed the lieutenant governor and state officials regarding advanced technologies within each program office portfolio.

Maj. Gen. Anthony Genatempo, PEO for Cyber and Networks, discussed how the integration of artificial intelligence will expedite the administration of contract awards, a critical component for readiness.

“With the integration of AI tools, I can see a future where the contracting timeline may be decreased from 14 months to as little as 14 days,” he said.

Lea Kirkwood, PEO for Electronic Systems, described how the Electronic Systems portfolio is “taking an enterprise approach” to provide critical capabilities to ensure warfighters can operate in contested environments.

Also representing their directorates, Perry Hill, deputy director of the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center’s Nuclear Command, Control and Communications Integration Directorate, spoke about the evolving NC3 portfolio, while Gordon Kordyak, deputy PEO Command, Control, Communications and Battle Management, emphasized the importance of hiring and acquiring technical talent.

Driscoll’s visit concluded with a roundtable discussion with installation leadership and members of the workforce to discuss quality of life initiatives and state partnerships.

Hanscom Air Force Base is a top employer in the state of Massachusetts that acquires critical warfighting systems for the U.S. Air Force such as radars, communication and intelligence systems, command and operations centers, network infrastructure and cyber defense.

Col. Jorge Jimenez, installation commander, highlighted the installation’s enduring mission support to more than 10,000 active-duty, Reserve, National Guard, civilians, contractors, and industry partners on the installation, including 130,000 retirees and beneficiaries in the region.

“We appreciate the opportunity to host the lieutenant governor for a productive meeting to discuss the positive impacts Hanscom Air Force Base has on the Commonwealth,” he said. “I look forward to continuing our long-standing partnership.”
