BURLINGTON, Mass. -- Brig. Gen. Joshua Williams, program executive officer for the Cyber and Networks Directorate, provided the keynote address during an ROTC scholarship luncheon in Burlington, Massachusetts, April 10.
The luncheon, hosted by the AFCEA Lexington-Concord Chapter and Air and Space Forces Association Paul Revere Chapter, recognized students from area ROTC programs, as well as Hanscom AFB enlisted members and federal civilian employees pursuing their degree.
“We are here to award more than $50,000 in scholarships to cadets and midshipmen pursuing studies in science, technology, engineering and management,” said Williams. “It represents not just financial support, but an investment in the future of our force and our nation.”
The general, speaking to more than 25 future military leaders across the Air Force, Army and Navy, discussed the benefits of education.
“By excelling in these areas, you are not just advancing your personal careers, you are strengthening our military and ensuring our armed forces remain ready, resilient and adaptive in an ever-changing world,” he said.
In his role, the general is responsible for developing, acquiring, deploying and sustaining a $20 billion portfolio of cyberspace, communication and cryptologic network capabilities connecting warfighters with secure and affordable systems.
Lt. Col. Austin Page, deputy program manager in the Presidential and Executive Airpower Directorate, and AFCEA Lexington-Concord Chapter ROTC Affairs vice president, delivered closing remarks.
“We are fortunate to have so many award winners and their guests here,” said Page. “To the AFCEA and AFA members, without your dedication to your organizations, the scholarships presented today would not have been possible.”
