HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The Hanscom Spouses Club awarded scholarships to graduating seniors and military spouses during the 65th annual HSC Scholarship Awards Ceremony at the Minuteman Commons here May 9.

HSC officers awarded $30,500 in total to six high school graduates and two military spouses, each of whom will pursue degrees in the fall.

Karlee Richards, who will attend West Point Military Academy in the fall, received the Paul Revere Chapter #178 of Air and Space Forces Chief of Staff Award and $6,000 as the top academic achieving student.

Other students receiving scholarships include:

The AFA Paul Revere Chapter #178 Brian Sweeney Memorial Award, $4,000 – Nora Larson
The Carmen Shipper Award, $5,000 – Jessika Cho
The “Finish What You Started” Award, $4,500 – Reanna Shaw
The Daedalian Military Child Award, $3,500 – Olivia Szablowski

Additional scholarship recipients were Gilbert Galman, Victoria Reidling and Sean McGarry.

Since 1961, the Hanscom Spouses Club has offered scholarships to military dependent children and spouses. The intent of these scholarships is to support graduating high school seniors and spouses of members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

The Hanscom Spouses Club raised more than $30,00 this year from the Minuteman Thrift Shop, the Air and Space Forces Association Paul Revere Chapter #178 and private donations.

HSC officials said that without these contributions, and the work by its members through the Thrift Shop and scholarship committee, the scholarship program would not be possible.
