HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Two Air Force Life Cycle Management Center officers here earned national-level recognition from the Society of Defense Financial Management for contributions in the field of finance.
Lt. Col. Nicholas Stockdale, commander of the 66th Comptroller Squadron, received an individual achievement award in the finance category, while Capt. David Cruz, deputy chief of budget analysis for the Cyber and Networks Directorate, earned an individual achievement award in the budgeting category.
“It is a huge honor and very humbling to be selected for this award,” said Stockdale. “Everything I’ve achieved was with, and because of, a phenomenal Budget Office, Financial Operations Flight, Financial Systems section, quality assurance manager, leadership team and command support staff.”
Stockdale led financial services operations supporting customers across a seven-state region while advancing budget initiatives that modernized infrastructure and improved readiness at Hanscom AFB.
Cruz was recognized for efforts supporting operational and financial continuity across the Department of War.
During a federal government shutdown, Cruz served as acting chief financial officer, ensuring on-time payments for 1,200 furloughed employees and maintaining operational support for more than 100 contracts.
“I am deeply honored to receive the Society of Defense Financial Management CY 2025 Individual Achievement National Award,” said Cruz. “Representing Hanscom Air Force Base and the Cyber and Networks Directorate on a national level is a tremendous privilege.”
He added that the recognition reflected the efforts of the entire team supporting the mission.
“I could not have achieved this milestone without the unwavering support, guidance and hard work of my peers and leadership,” Cruz said. “This award belongs to all of us.”
Both officers are scheduled to be recognized during the Defense Financial Management Institute event in Orlando later this month.
The Society of Defense Financial Management, or SDFM, represents more than 13,000 members from military and private-sector financial management communities.
