Local Memorial Day observances to honor fallen service members

Base and area residents are invited to attend local Memorial Day parades and ceremonies scheduled to take place May 25.

Observed on the last Monday in May, Memorial Day honors and remembers military members who died in service to the nation.

Details for local town observances are listed below. 

Bedford

  • 8:45 a.m. – Ceremony at Shawsheen Cemetery.
  • 9:15 a.m. – Ceremony at Shawsheen River Bridge.
  • 10 a.m. – Ceremony at Old Burying Ground on Springs Road.
  • 10:45 a.m. – Ceremony at Bedford High School Fallen Veterans Memorial.
  • 11 a.m.  – Parade from Mudge Way along Great Road, concluding with a ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park.

Concord

  • 9 a.m. – Parade from Percy A. Rideout Field to Kenneth J. Dunn Square in West Concord for a remembrance ceremony.
  • 11 a.m. – Parade from Concord’s Main Street to Monument Square for a wreath laying and veterans roll call.

The Concord Independent Battery, Concord Minutemen and Concord Police Honor Guard will participate in both events.

Lexington

  • 10 a.m. – Memorial Walk from Munroe Cemetery to Emery Park at Depot Square to lay wreaths at several Lexington war memorials.
  • 10:45 a.m. – Musical Salute to the Armed Forces at Emery Park in Depot Square.
  • 11 a.m. – Memorial Day Ceremony at Emery Park in Depot Square.

The public is invited to attend the observance with the Veterans, honored guests, Lexington Minute Men, Lexington High School Band, Scouts, and the Never-Fading Poppy Project members.

Lincoln

  • 9:30 a.m. – Memorial Day ceremony at Pierce House including a wreath laying, playing of taps, call of veterans and the presentation of a Massachusetts Medal of Liberty to a Lincoln resident.

A National Moment of Remembrance will be observed for one minute at 3 p.m. on Memorial Day to honor and remember those who have died in service to the nation.
