HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- Col. Ted Erickson assumed leadership of the Enterprise IT and Data Transport Division during a ceremony here June 17, taking charge of a $1.22 billion portfolio that delivers enterprise network capabilities.
The division provides secure communications, cloud services and digital infrastructure to users, enabling mission execution and information sharing across the joint force.
“Col. Erickson understands both technology and the mission it supports,” said Brig. Gen. Joshua Williams, program executive officer of Cyber and Networks Directorate, who presided over the ceremony. “His experience leading enterprise IT programs, combined with his deep understanding of the workforce and culture, makes him exceptionally qualified to lead this organization into the future.”
The Enterprise IT and Data Transport Division includes military, civilian and contractor personnel responsible for maintaining and modernizing network infrastructure across the Department of the Air Force.
Following the transfer of leadership, Erickson thanked the workforce and emphasized the importance of enterprise IT capabilities to daily Air Force operations, noting to Glen Townsend, the outgoing senior materiel leader, that the division’s success is built on the expertise and dedication of its military, civilian and contractor personnel.
“I have a tremendous amount of respect for the work done and the team you [Townsend] created here in DT, and you can trust me to take care of them,” he said.
Erickson emphasized how the division’s mission affects nearly every Air Force operation by providing the connectivity and infrastructure needed to access information worldwide.
“I am beyond excited to deliver IT, something not everyone in the Air Force thinks about, but everyone uses every single day to get our mission done,” he said. “Nothing happens without the connections you make every.”
Directorate leaders say continued investment in both technology and talent remains essential to ensuring the DAF can deliver secure, reliable and modern digital capabilities that support operational readiness today and into the future.
