HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – A Cyber and Networks Directorate security specialist will be recognized next month for outstanding achievement advancing defense innovation.
Tina Holman, the primary security stakeholder for the University of Massachusetts Applied Research Corporation Cooperative Research and Development Agreement, was selected to receive the Department of the Air Force Technology Transfer and Transition Annual Award at DAF T3’s annual summit in August.
“Receiving a DAF T3 annual award is a tremendous honor and reflects Tina’s exceptional dedication, professionalism and commitment to mission success,” said Christopher Carrero, Hanscom AFB Lantern Operationally Responsive Technology Accelerator and technical director. “Her work has strengthened our ability to collaborate with partners, accelerate innovation and deliver capabilities that support the warfighter.”
The annual DAF T3 event recognizes military members, civilian employees, and teams through the DAF Technology Transfer & Transition Program Office for advancing national security and commercializing defense innovations.
Among her contributions, Holman was key in the execution and accreditation of a secure facility at the NorthStar Campus in Lincoln, Massachusetts.
“By stepping into special security representative duties amidst staff shortages and a hiring freeze, she personally navigated the complex multi-agency approvals required to accredit this new gateway for New England's innovators around the Boston area to reach the warfighter,” said Carrero.
The Northstar campus offers workspace designed to facilitate collaboration between small companies, industry, government officials and educators.
“Without her tenacity and persistence, this landmark capability for the Lantern and our regional Operationally Responsive Technology Accelerator office simply wouldn't exist,” said Carrero. “I am incredibly proud to have her represent us at the national DAF T3 Summit to accept this well-deserved award in person."
The Lantern Innovation and Collaboration facility exists, in part, to enhance and extend leading-edge advances in all areas of defense applications, cyber defense techniques and public safety through technology transition, according to Carrero.
The accomplishment establishes a precedent for using DAF T3 mechanisms to enable controlled-area construction, according to officials, addressing a significant limitation for the Department of War while establishing a resource for future strategic operations and continuity plans.
