HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The 66th Force Support Squadron will host Oktoberfest Sept. 18 at 3 p.m. at the Fitness Tennis Bubble here, and event organizers are seeking volunteers to help make the annual German-themed celebration a success.
Volunteers are needed to assist with setup, staff event activities and help with tear down. All volunteers will receive a free volunteer T-shirt as a thank you for their support.
“We’re looking for volunteers to help us put on a great event for the Team Hanscom community,” said Staff Sgt. Ryan Olander, Oktoberfest event coordinator.
The celebration is open to anyone with base access and will feature entertainment and activities.
Free food, including bratwurst with beer-braised onions, German potato salad, will be available beginning at 4 p.m. and while supplies last.
Attendees can expect a variety of activities, including live German music, a stein-holding competition, youth archery, and inflatable bounce houses. Craft activities will also be available, including pretzel necklace making and decorating cookies and wooden pumpkins.
“This is a free Hanscom AFB community event that will be fun for all ages,” said Olander.
Parking will be available at the Fitness Center, Youth Center, Outdoor Recreation and along the road in front of the tennis courts.
Olander encouraged attendees to drink responsibly and arrange for a designated driver, if needed.
The event will be held rain or shine.
