HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- Team Hanscom will observe Suicide Prevention Awareness Month throughout September with events designed to raise awareness, strengthen connections and highlight resources.
The Integrated Prevention and Resilience Office is leading the monthlong campaign, encouraging all members of Team Hanscom to recognize warning signs, build meaningful connections and learn how to support those in need.
“Protecting the mental health and well-being of our military community, civilians and families is essential to our mission and our readiness,” said Kristin Wright, supervisory integrated prevention chief.
She explained that recognizing Suicide Prevention Month each year reinforces Team Hanscom’s commitment to support one another.
This year’s theme, “Joining Your Fight: Connect to Protect,” emphasizes the importance of connection and shared responsibility in suicide prevention.
“I want every member of Team Hanscom to understand that suicide prevention isn’t a once-a-year initiative,” Wright said. “It’s a shared responsibility rooted in everyday actions and consistent conversations. When people feel supported and resources are easy to access, connection and readiness are enhanced in our community.”
The campaign began Sept. 1 with a proclamation signing.
