New Horizons to take place March 3 to 4 Published Feb. 10, 2015 HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- This year's New Horizons Symposium will be held March 3 to 4 at the Marriott Hotel in Newton, Mass. Sponsored by the Lexington-Concord Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, the event allows for interaction between government, industry and academia. Lt. Gen. John Thompson, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center commander, is scheduled to be the keynote speaker. LCMC Hanscom's program executive officers, Maj. Gen. Craig Olson, C3I and Networks, and Steven Wert, Battle Management, will also be presenting and will address current and emerging business opportunities. In addition to LCMC Hanscom, other speakers planned are from MIT Lincoln Laboratory, the General Services Administration, the MITRE Corp. and Mass. National Guard. According to organizers, based on positive feedback from previous events, several panels will take place to provide forums to exchange viewpoints and open up discussions with the audience. There is no cost to attend for active duty military and government civilians. The registration fee for industry participants who are AFCEA members is $475. For industry non-members, the fee is $525. No cost government attendance is limited to a "first come" basis, so those interested in attending should register as soon as possible. Lunch for government attendees will be available at a moderate fee. The organizers say that the New Horizons symposium offers "a great opportunity" for Hanscom's civilian and military attendees to earn continuous learning points for professional development while engaging with industry and other government participants on current topics of interest. Note that supervisors must grant permission for attendance to earn CLPs. Registration information is on the chapter's website at www.afceaboston.com. Note that each registration only covers one attendee. Due to the recent weather, the cut-off date for registration has been extended to Feb.27. Cancellations must be made by Feb. 13. On March 4, following New Horizons, a separate LCMC Hanscom small business panel will be held. Information about this event will be forthcoming on the FEDBIZOPPS website.
