The 66th Medical Squadron Pharmacy has recently reduced pharmacists. As a result, and in order to continue to provide optimal pharmacy services, the number of over-the-counter, or OTC, medications available has been reduced, squadron officials announced recently.

Pharmacy staff took all aspects into consideration when determining which OTC medications will not be available. Officials researched which medications can be purchased at the Commissary and at local pharmacies.

This chart highlights the OTC medications that will remain available.

In addition to reducing the amount of medications that are offered, officials recommend calling ahead to ensure prescriptions are filled.

"Patients requiring prescriptions should call ahead to save time," said Maj. Joshua Elston, 66th Medical Squadron pharmacist. "Call the Pharmacy to let them know when you are coming to pick up your prescription so that it takes less of your time."

Patients may call 781-225-6789 and press 2 for the Pharmacy, then 4 for a pharmacy representative. Additionally, your civilian provider can fax a prescription to the Clinic Pharmacy at 781-225-2577.

"Once your prescription has been faxed in to the Clinic Pharmacy, call to let us know when you are coming to pick it up," said Elston. "Again, this will save time when you are picking it up."

Patients are also urged to utilize the TRICARE Home Delivery service that is available for prescriptions they take on a regular basis. Patients can receive up to a 90-day supply of the generic brand, for free, for most medications. Their prescriptions will be received through the mail by using the Home Delivery program. This chart offers patients more options to purchase OTC medications. The Pharmacy will continue to fill these prescriptions while in stock.
