Award winning efficiency
BOSTON -- Lt. Col. Romero Reid and Donald Morris accept the 2013 Federal Green Challenge Award for energy efficiency at a ceremony June 27. Hanscom achieved a 47 percent reduction in fuel oil usage by implementing a number of efficiency projects. A dual fueled Central Heat Plant shifted some of the fuel usage from oil to cleaner burning natural gas. Energy efficiency was also enhanced by insulating boiler steam and condensate lines and upgrading boilers to reuse waste heat. (Courtesy photo)
