Ryan Twomey, 66th Civil Engineering Division summer hire, spreads fresh top soil along Barksdale Street on base with other CE Roads and Grounds personnel, June 10. The top soil, a product of CE's composting operation, is made from leaves, grass clippings and other fine organic material the grounds maintenance team ends up with throughout the year. The material is turned periodically during ideal weather conditions and decomposes to become the rich, black and nutrient-filled product that is spread on base for new grass to grow. CE generates between 1,500 to 2,000 yards of new top soil annually. (U.S. Air Force photo by Linda LaBonte Britt)
