Memorial Day

The first official Memorial Day observance was held at Arlington National Cemetery May 30, 1868, to honor those who died during the Civil War and to decorate their graves. Today, Memorial Day is an opportunity to pause and remember the sacrifices of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen who gave their lives to secure our freedoms.
