Three Hanscom master sergeants selected for promotion

Master Sgt. Richard Abbott, 319th Recruiting Squadron first sergeant, is notified that he has been selected for promotion to senior master sergeant during a promotion announcement at the 66th Security Forces Squadron, his former squadron, at Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., Feb. 28. Three Hanscom master sergeants were selected for promotion to senior master sergeant out of 13,054 eligible Air Force-wide. Also selected for promotion at Hanscom is Master Sgt. Jack Brown, Contracting Directorate Special Services superintendent, and Master Sgt. Richard John, III, Battle Management Tactical Air Control Party-Modernization superintendent. Sitting in the audience of approximately 150 were three teenage scholarship recipients, each headed into their first year of college. Kayla King, daughter of one of Hanscom’s Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence and Networks division chiefs, said she plans to use her scholarship at the University of Arkansas, where she’ll study computer science. Kenneth Armijo, headed to Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Massachusetts, says he will be studying robotics engineering. Douglas Amirault is looking to study computer science and math at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.
