NEXRAD radar replacement, Cannon AFB, N.M.
Contractors with Telecommunication Support Services Solutions, Inc., based in Florida, install a radome on a Weather Surveillance Doppler radar overnight Feb. 17, at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico. The company is on contract as part Program Executive Office Digital’s effort to support and sustain 25 radars owned by the U.S. Air Force. These 25 radars are one portion of more than 180 U.S. government-owned radars, called the NEXRAD system, which provides weather forecasts to the military, Federal Aviation Administration and National Weather Service.
