  • DEI office continues to identify barriers

    The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion office here is continuing to examine existing Hanscom policies and procedures for all aspects of diversity and inclusion since standing up March 1. The DEI office currently has four Member and Employee Resource Group leads who can take a qualitative pulse of potential barriers for personnel who are Black, Hispanic, Asian and/or women.

    Senior leaders announced today that a new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Office will be standing up here March 1. Building from Hanscom’s Diversity and Inclusion Cell that has been in place since 2016, the DEI Office, with a full-time chief, will focus on all aspects of diversity, equity and inclusion on the installation in accordance with the president’s executive order on advancing racial equity and the acting secretary of the Air Force’s directed racial disparity review.

The organization will work directly for the secretary of the Air Force and continue to address the strategic impact of diversity, inclusion and equity on Airmen, Guardians and their families.
  • Air Force to allow longer braids, ponytails, bangs for women

    As an outcome of the 101st Air Force uniform board, Air Force women will be able to wear their hair in up to two braids or a single ponytail with bulk not exceeding the width of the head and length not extending below a horizontal line running between the top of each sleeve inseam at the under arm through the shoulder blades. In addition, women’s bangs may now touch their eyebrows, but not cover their eyes.
