10/31/2013 - HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass.  -- U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh plans to visit Hanscom Air Force Base Nov. 7 and 8.

He will be accompanied by his wife, Betty, and joined by several additional senior leaders, including Gen. Janet Wolfenbarger, commander of Air Force Materiel Command, Dr. William LaPlante, principal deputy assistant secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, and Lt. Gen. C.D. Moore II, commander of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center.

The visit will kick off with an all-call in the Aero Club Hangar at 2:15 p.m. Nov. 7. Welsh will also receive mission overview briefings and review program displays and demonstrations, participate in a community social and meet with high-level government officials, including Mass. Gov. Deval Patrick, U.S. Rep. Niki Tsongas and, potentially, other members of the Mass. Congressional delegation.

Welsh is also the featured speaker at Lincoln Laboratory's annual Veteran's Day luncheon and ceremony, and he will spend time touring the Lab's facilities and receiving key technology updates afterwards.

Mrs. Welsh and General Wolfenbarger's husband, Retired Col. Craig Wolfenbarger, will devote much of their time at Hanscom to family issues. They will participate in an extensive forum with key spouses, get updates and hold discussions on significant medical issues, including the Exceptional Family Medical Program, and discuss education challenges and successes with local school officials.

Attendance at the all-call is mandatory for military personnel and highly encouraged for civilian personnel. All personnel attending should be seated no later than 2 p.m. and plan to stay for the entire call. For those unable to attend or stay for the entire call due to a scheduled duty departure earlier than 4 p.m., the recorded call will be placed on HanscomNet for later viewing.
