HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The 66th Force Support Squadron will be expanding services and facility availability as the installation transitions in Phase 2B of the multiphased return to full capacity beginning July 20.

Officials said the decision on how to reopen during the “Vigilant phase” was made in accordance with state and local guidelines, with the safety of the community a top-priority.

“The health and safety of our staff and customers is the primary driver for all our reopening plans,” said Paul Hartigan, 66 FSS Community Support Flight chief.

During Phase 2B, the Hanscom Fitness and Sports Center will continue to support active duty members only. Members are required to schedule workout shifts in advance by visiting www.waitlist.me/w/11690700018. Users should select “Make Reservation,” and enter a date and time. Reservations can be made up to one week in advance with a limit of one workout shift per day.

The Minuteman Commons and Hanscom Conference Center are now open for official functions under limited capacity. The maximum occupancy for each room is determined by eight individuals per 1,000 square feet, not to exceed 25 personnel total. Outdoor gatherings on the installation will not exceed 50 personnel, and proper distancing and mask wear will remain required.

Exceptions to the policy can be requested, but must be submitted by an O-6 or civilian equivalent, include a completed risk mitigation plan and be approved by the installation commander.

“We will still ask all customers to adhere to guidelines on masks and social distancing, though specific restrictions will be handled when the reservation is made,” said Hartigan.

Reservations for the Minuteman Commons can be made by calling 781-225-6165, and the conference center by calling 781-225-6501. Customers can find availability and occupancy numbers at the facility SharePoint site.

The base pool is also opening to active duty by appointment only in Phase 2B. There is a maximum of 10 patrons permitted at once, and activity is limited to laps. Pool reservations can be made at 781-225-6638.

The Fourth Cliff Recreation Area in Humarock, Massachusetts, will be accepting reservations beginning July 20. Tent camping, the beach bathhouse and the recreation hall will remain closed.

“We’re requiring 24-hour vacancy between use of rentals, and recreational vehicle customers must have the ability to remain self-contained,” said Hartigan.
