HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The Hanscom Chapel will host a Spring Prayer Breakfast here May 26 beginning at 8 a.m.

Dr. Sandra G. Whitley, a retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel, will be the guest speaker. The theme is “New Beginnings: Overcoming Adversity.”

“The event is about building community, seeing people face-to-face and having breakfast, so we're not only being fed physically, but spiritually as well,” said Chaplain (Capt.) Kimberly Hall, installation chaplain and organizer for the event.

Whitley, currently a senior pastor at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in New Bedford, Massachusetts, was an acquisition contracting officer for the former Electronic Systems Center headquartered here.

The prayer breakfast is free and open to the first 130 people with base access. Officials ask those interested in attending to RSVP with Hall by email at kimberly.hall.15@us.af.mil.

Whitley, a native of Montgomery, Alabama, is a pastor, counselor and author who has ministered in the military and civilian communities for more than 25 years.

Organizers are looking for volunteers to help with setup and serving food.

For further information, or to volunteer, email Hall at kimberly.hall.15@us.af.mil.
