HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The 66th Air Base Group and Air Force Lifecycle Management Center here play a vital role in the Air Force’s warfighting capabilities and Great Power Competition.
What.We.Do. spotlights the units and organizations that make up Hanscom Air Force Base.
In this edition, members of the 66th Comptroller Squadron explain how the finance office contributes to our installation and warfighters.
Budgeting
The 66 CPTS does more than pay Airmen, the squadron is also responsible for funding all base organizations and managing their budgets.
“The comptroller squadron oversees the planning, programming and execution of the entire Hanscom Air Force Base budget,” said Jennifer Boisvert, budget analyst. “By funding the base, we keep Hanscom operational, which ensures support to the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s mission.”
In short, the acquisition teams couldn’t supply warfighters with the technology they need without the budgeting and funding controlled by CPTS.
Customer Service
Customer service representatives with CPTS ensure Airmen are paid on time at home and while deployed.
“When you are talking about our customer service team, one thing to highlight is what we do to get members out the door [to deploy],” said Airman 1st Class Reginald Lee, Jr., customer service team lead. “We make sure they are financially prepared and ready to deploy so that they can execute the mission downrange.”
To improve customer service, CPTS recently released a new tool to help schedule appointments. You can learn more about that here: 66 CPTS queued up to save Airmen, Guardians time > Hanscom Air Force Base > Article Display
Travel Pay
The CPTS also coordinates and funds official travel. The travel team encourages Airmen and families to take advantage of their support.
“The government travel program helps make sure people get paid, and that they get their entitlements whenever they travel or move,” said Airman 1st Class Laeticia Soro, travel section lead. “We make sure that people are taken care of, because then they are more focused on their job.”
Soro added that the program also generates rebates that give money back to the installation to be used as necessary.
She emphasized her team’s diligence resolving pay issues quickly.
“We work really hard to make sure Airmen and their families are paid in any situation,” she said. “There is not one customer that my teammates and I don’t prioritize. We are here, we are working, and we are proud to serve our people.”
