3/31/2014 - HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass.  -- Hanscom Primary and Middle schools are part of the Lincoln Public School District and students in grades 9-12 attend Bedford High School, part of the Bedford Public School District. The school calendars will vary. Important dates:
Feb. 11: Eighth grade parents night at BHS at 6:30 p.m.
Feb. 15-19: All schools closed
Feb. 23: Bedford school committee meeting at BHS at 7:30 p.m.
Feb. 25: Lincoln/Hanscom school committee meeting at the Lincoln Campus at 7 p.m.
Feb. 26: BHS Principals Roundtable at 8 a.m.
Feb. 26: Hanscom PTO sponsored Mardi Gras at 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Feb. 29 - March 4: BHS MCAS retest
March 7: HPS and HMS PTO meeting in HPS conference room 8:15 a.m.
March 7: Bedford school committee meeting at BHS at 7:30 p.m.
March 8: BHS spring sports meeting 6 p.m.
March 10: Lincoln/Hanscom school committee meeting at the Lincoln Campus at 7 p.m.
March 11: BHS no school
March 15: BHS College Fair
March 16: HPS and HMS parent teach conferences 1:30 to 4 p.m.
March 16: HPS Family Math Night 6:30 p.m.
March 16-19: BHS musical

School Notes:

Hanscom study buddies
Hanscom junior officers offer one-on-one short term or long term tutoring assistance to children on base. The service is available to Hanscom youth of all ages that are studying most school subjects. For further information, contact 1st Lt. Jarek Reihner at 781-225-4230 to arrange a tutor. To learn more, read here.

Bedford High School is converting the school's email system. As of Oct. 1, the Bedford High School Parent Association will solely use the Bedford High School email, BHSPA@bedford.k12.ma.us. The school will no longer use the Yahoo group email previously used for daily or occasional announcements. To sign up for all Bedford High School and Bedford High School PA news, go to any page on the school site and select "Sign up for Enewsletters."

It was my pleasure to work with Mary Keene's second graders from Hanscom Primary School. They had a field trip to the Worcester Art Museum and participated in a portraiture drawing studio class with me. In my 10 years of teaching studio classes at the museum I have never been more delighted to work with the students as I was today. The children should be commended for their wonderfully cheerful nature kindness work ethic and respect for others. At such a young age they have been faced with challenges that many children will never have to face. They were truly amazing and I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with them. For 1 12 hours they made me feel like I was a part of the Hanscom AFB family. With gratitude Priscilla Harvey
