3/31/2014 - HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass.  -- Hanscom Primary and Middle schools are part of the Lincoln Public School District and students in grades 9-12 attend Bedford High School, part of the Bedford Public School District. The school calendars will vary. Important dates:
Aug. 18: BHS football tryouts
Aug. 21: All other high school sports begin
Aug. 25: HPS Kindergarten Screening by appointment only
Aug. 25: HPS First grade screening by appointment only
Aug. 26: BHS Arena Scheduling from 8 to 10 a.m.
Aug. 26: BHS new student orientation from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Aug. 26: BHS freshmen pictures from 9 to 11 a.m.
Aug. 27: BHS sophomore and junior pictures from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Aug. 28: HPS Meet and Greet for first grade thru third grade at 1 p.m.
Sept. 2: First day of school
Sept. 2: HPS kindergarten classroom visits from 11 to 11:45 a.m.
Sept. 3: First day of school for kindergarten and pre-kindergarten
Sept. 3: Kindergarten parent coffee at 8 a.m.
Sept. 16: Back to School Night for parents only from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Hanscom Primary School Registration (K through 3)
Families who have a rough arrival date should call 781-274-7721 or email winchesterg@lincnet.org to let the school know of arrival. To attend HPS, children must be residents in base housing or Temporary Living Facility.

In Person Registration
Families who have already arrived on base may call, email or visit the school during the secretary's office hours to register a child. Summer 2014 hours are Monday thru Thursday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. The office will be closed Aug. 15 through 19.

Registration Requirements
In order to register a child, parents must bring a copy of:
- Birth certificate or passport
- Proof of immunizations
- School records, if available
- Copy of Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Accommodation Plan, if applicable
- Parent or sponsor military ID

Meet and Greet the Teachers
Classroom lists are posted for Grades 1 through 3 at 1 p.m. on Aug. 28. Classroom lists are posted for kindergarten students at 11 a.m. Sept. 2.

School Supply List
The Hanscom Primary School provides all beginning of academic year school supplies for students. It is not necessary for parents to purchase any additional supplies.

Summer at Bedford High School
BHS office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Families can always call to make sure someone will be available before they visit by calling 781-275-1700, ext. 1111, ext. 1115 or ext. 1116.

Registration Information
Information about registration, including forms, is available at www.bedford.k12.ma.us/images/stories/pdfs/regforms/enrollmentpackage-bhs.pdf. A registration packet with all the forms is also available in the BHS office.

Once all the completed registration forms and required information is turned in to the registrar, the student will be enrolled in Bedford High School. After enrollment someone will contact the student to set up an appointment to meet with a guidance counselor and make course selections.

To receive the Bedford High School daily announcement and bi-weekly e-newsletters and other important communications, please request it on the BHS Home Page, "Sign up for enewletters" link and register your email address.

Hanscom study buddies
Hanscom junior officers offer one-on-one short term or long term tutoring assistance to base children. The service is available to Hanscom youth of all ages that are studying most school subjects. For further information, contact 1st Lt. Javier Noboa at 781-225-3126or javier.noboa@us.af.mil to arrange a tutor.

Sign up for BHS daily announcements and weekly e-newsletters
Bedford High School is converting the school's email system. As of Oct. 1, the Bedford High School Parent Association will solely use the Bedford High School email, BHSPA@bedford.k12.ma.us. The school will no longer use the Yahoo group email previously used for daily or occasional announcements. To sign up for all Bedford High School and Bedford High School PA news, go to any page on the school site and select "Sign up for Enewsletters."
