2/7/2012 - HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass.  -- The Hanscom Education and Training Center is sponsoring the first education fair for 2012. The fair is scheduled for Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Minuteman Commons ballroom.

This event coincides with Air Force Materiel Command's emphasis on the Year of Continuing Education (YoCE). The YoCE initiative continues to highlight earning a Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) degree, and also encourages AFMC Airmen to pursue an advanced degree or professional certificate.

Philip Jones, guidance counselor at the Hanscom Education and Training Center, suggests letting the professional education counselors from more than 27 different colleges and universities help devise a degree plan.

The education fair provides a convenient, single point of access to in-residence and distance learning programs currently available at local and national colleges and universities.

The following colleges and universities are invited to participate in the education fair: Ashford University, Becker College, Bellevue University, Boston University, Cambridge College, Canisius College, Columbia Southern University, Emmanuel College, Empire State College, ITT Technical Institute, Jones International University, Leslie University, National University, Nichols College, Northeastern University, North Shore Community College, Park University, Porter and Chester Institute, Regis College, Rivier College, Salem State University, Southern New Hampshire University, Suffolk University, TUI University, University of Massachusetts - Lowell, University of Phoenix, Walden University, Wentworth Institute of Technology and Western New England University.

Planning educational pursuits and defining goals with a purpose for learning can be a difficult task, according to education center officials. The education fair can help find a program to meet an individual's needs, assist if unsatisfied with a current education path or, if confused, advise on where to go for help.

The education fair is open to all active duty, guard, reservist, family members, government employees, contractors and anyone who has access to Hanscom. For further information, contact Philip Jones at 781-225-5940 or email Hanscom.Education.Training@Hanscom.af.mil.
